Friday night was the first district game for the girls basketball program. The broncos took on the Salado Eagles at home and the freshman girls started the night off strong with a close win.
In the first quarter the Broncos were led by Genesis Vargas-Reys scoring 4 with 2 of those being back to back free throws. Several steals by Jayden Hayward kept the Broncos in the lead at the end at the end of the half 12-11. Coming out of halftime the Broncos had their best quarter scoring 7 and holding the Eagles to 5. Entering the 4th the Broncos had a 3 point lead but the Eagles rallied. The Broncos held the Eagles with 4 seconds left to win the game 21-20. Leading scorers are as follows:
