On a very windy night in Salado the Lake Belton Bronco Varsity Baseball team ousted Salado 6-1.
Mason Gerrard went the distance on the mound with a dominating performance. Each time Salado threatened Gerrard came up big with strikeouts and a few defensive plays behind him. Jaydon Leza made a few spectacular plays with a big two out catch in right centerfield and an assist on an errant throw on a pickoff attempt.
The Broncos had a few hustle play that led to runs. In the first inning with two outs Connor Bartz stole homeplate to start the scoring. Later in the game Tristan Robin stole third with 2 outs and there was a passed ball. The pitcher didn’t cover home and Robin scampered home. ” What an instinctive play Robin made” Coach Cory Beckham stated.
At the plate Connor Crews and Brandon Bell continued their hot spell as they both had multiple hits for the Bronco offense.
The Broncos are still in a tie for first place with Taylor and Gateway with a big home tilt with Salado this Friday night.
